Breadtop

Satay bun ($1.90) & Spicy beef ($1.80)

These are my brunch from Breadtop, QV + the egg tart from Maxim yesterday =D quite full as they were all dough-y based. This is my 1st time having the satay bun as the pyramid shape & the word "satay" caught my eyes. The top part of the bun tasted like pastry typed of texture while the bottom is just like normal bread. I like the bun's texture as it provides some crunchiness but the satay inside...... well... nothing like satay... I can only subtly taste the peanut butter, if there is any, or I could have imagined that there was, since I love to eat satay. LOL.

For the spicy beef bun, I love it as the beef is a bit spicy *duh* and the amount of it is just rite, where every bite u'll have some spicy beef in your mouth. I like.

Doughnuts!!

On my way to get a book at Baillieu Library this morning, I took the wrong tram at La Trobe street (should take tram 19) and luckily I realised it when it made a stop at Victoria Market =) Since I haven't had my breakfast, I thought y dun just grab some fresh hot jam-filled doughnuts?

The American Doughnut Kitchen Van

My doughnuts

WOW...Lots of sugar

My favourite part ~ the jam

This doughnut van is at Queens Victoria Market and is run by Boening's family. They have been in the doughnuts business for more than 5 decades... Here is a bit of their story, if u r interested.

Spanish Dougnuts & Dessert House

This morning, i went to Vic Market with Alf to do our weekly marketing. As i havent had my brekkie, hence i decided to get myself some spanish doughnuts.

the paper bag

I bought $3 worth of spanish doughnuts here. As u can c, it is not alot in there. Actually 1 piece = $1, however, cz some of them are in smaller pieces, hence the seller jt chucked in another 1 or 2 for me.

I havent eaten them for quite sometimes, so im delighted to hav them this morning. The doughnuts were still pretty warm n crunchy. LOVE it. The only criticism is that the amount of sugar on them was TOO little!

As much as I enjoy it, I have to say tt is pricey for 1 piece= $1 aud. hm.. Mayb i should just make them myself...

*Time flies... and it was lunch time again!

Went to Dessert House for lunch. This is one of our regular places for meals as the food there are pretty good and its not expensive. Its a v popular restaurant for Asian and esp. international students where you can safely say tt most of the international students in Melbourne know this restaurant.

We arrived there at ard 1.30pm and as u can c, the queue is quite long. This happens quite often during lunch n dinner times as the restaurant space is fairly small.

Fried Chicken Ribs on Rice $7.80

Lemongrass Chicken With Egg On Rice $7.50

If u r in the restaurant, u would sight these 2 dishes on a number of tables, esp the 2nd one as its the house specialty. Ooooo, also the restaurant has quite a range of desserts on their menu, such as diff types of pancakes as well as other types of desserts, and they are yummy too =)

We always enjoy the food there, although i hav to mention that the quality of the service is not v good, esp during peak period, where u r expected to leave once u finish ur last spoonful of whatever u've ordered.

EDIT: Not too long ago, they have also opened a branch at Swanston street (opposite QV).

Delichoice for Lunch today

Had my very late lunch today at Mcd. i got myself a delichoice ~ Parmigiana, $5.95. ** I got the delichoice for free as i have this free delichoice voucher from turtle (Thanks turtle!)** This is the new delichoice that Mcd has now for a limited time, together with another choice: sweet chilli chicken. I chose Parmigiana over sweet chilli chicken as the name sounds mysterious to me and so i wanted to try. Btw, Mcd now serves 2 kind of breads for delichoice - white or multigrains. I always lov multigrains as it is not as plain as white *duhh..haha* it just add more bites and more nutrients..n so multigrains here i go =)

*This pic is quite dark as compared to others 2 as my handphone was running out of battery and hence i have to bring the wrapper back home to take the pic, which then is already nite time. And also my room is quite dark. And yea too, i hav to improve my photo-taking skills!*

As you can c, it got a huge fried crumbed chicken fillet, big slices of bacon, lettuce, slices of cheese and a few baby spinach *its in the middle of the sandwich and thus u wont c it*. There is tomato paste kinda sauce on top as well as some pepper on it. Although it might seems abit dry in the pics, it is not at all. The sauce is jt enuff for the sandwich. This is unbelievably good.

And i hav to say that Mcd is generous on the ingredients as the chicken fillet is huge and the bacons too. I would say its really worth the price. I have tried most of the delichoice at Mcd and they are all not bad, quite good to be honest, esp Tandoori chicken. You got to try that.

Mcd nowadays have wider range of fast food to "capture" those healthier eaters and they do offer some healthier choices on the menu, like delichoice * alittle bit more healthier..haha*, salad n apples. To conclude, their delichoice is worth trying and definitely have "captured" me.

Lucky Cup

Went for bubble tea today at Melbourne Central after a few hours at library. Its been ages since my last cup of bubble tea. I personally am not a big fan of bubble tea but do enjoy it occasionally.

*Back to Lucky Cup*

Lucky Cup is situated at the food court, next to Baskin Robbins, near to the Melbourne Central’s train station. They offered a wide range of different flavors such as blueberry, almond, aloe vera…etc and different types of "bubble drinks" – bubble tea, milk teas and others. Besides, u can choose either pearls or jelly for your drinks. I ordered the “red pearl milk tea” *the classic/normal bubble tea as I always put it* at $3.00.

The bubble tea was not too sweet, which is to my liking, and u can, subtly, taste the milk and the tea together. Its just refeshing! To be honest, I never really tried many flavors of bubble tea before as I am slightly deterred by the coloring and artificial flavors * If u keep on reading this blog, I believe you will soon find out that I much prefer, if possible, natural-coloring and natural-flavoring food.

Neway, there was another branch at Bourke Street last time but was closed last year (?) I think. Besides Lucky Cup, I’ve only tried Easy Way (at Bourke street, near to Target) and another bubble tea cafĂ© which I forgot the name (it is at Bourke street as well, next to KFC). From these 3, I find that the bubble teas they made are quite similar/standard in taste; the difference I feel is with the pearl where Lucky Cup’s pearls are the best out of the three. It is soft yet chewy, as compared to the other 2 where their pearls are a little bit harder.

Hmm.. i just like the combination of the drinks n pearls as i got something to chew while drinking! =)
