Grill'd

One of my frens loves to eat the burgers at Grill'd and upon his recommendation, 4 of us (me, MM, Mouse & JK) drove down to St. Kilda to have the burgers for dinner.

Grill'd is a burger bar claiming to offer a healthier version of burgers ~ 100% chicken breast, beef, lamb n veggie pattie (preservative free). So far, it has 4 stores in Melbourne but none is situated in the CBD area. The nearest will be at Chapel St. Besides diff combo of burgers are being offered on the menu, it also has regular chips ($3.50) with 3 choices of dips (tomato relish or herb mayo or sweet chilli mayo). Ooo.... for the bun, u can choose a) panini OR b) wholemeal/white burger bun. The prices of the burgers range from $7- $10.

We each order our choice of burgers n 2 chips to share. We have chosen tomato relish n herb mayo as our dips for the fat chips. Those dips were really nice =D

"Baa Baa" burger, $9.90

The menu describes this as: "Grilled lean lamb pattie with avocado, tasty cheese, salad, relish n herb mayo.."

Mighty Melbourne, $10.50.

The menu describes this as: "grilled 100% lean beef, tasty cheese, crispy trim bacon, free range egg, a couple of slices of beetroot with salad, relish, herb mayo..." Sounds delicious rite?

The burgers at Grill'd are nice, altho I have to say they are not very cheap. As Mouse & MM had two buy-1-free-1 voucher (for the burgers), hence our bill for that nite was cheap. But I guess at the end of the day, mayb you can give urself some excuse that at least they are healthier =)

fringe

We stumbled upon St.Kilda for lunch yesterday, after an initial plan in Elsternwick fell through (and completely! Why is that place not opened on Saturdays, WHY and no one told me that?!) - so Sis took a detour and we ended up in St.Kilda. Sooo many cafes at the Esplanade. We were by the so hungry we could eat a cow (230PM) so when Alf suggested a place he had been to before - fringe - there were no complaints from the rest of us.

fringe without a capital F.

Inside of fringe

Through a hole through the wall.

We were seated by a VERY SUNNY window and no kidding on the VERY SUNNY (so photos were a bit weird in light). Soon we were roasting but at least not freezing (no, I don't know what is the better alternative really). Anyway, we ordered drinks to start off with - lattes for me, Alf and San and a lemon-lime bitter for Sis.

See the little heart-shape ♥ in Alf's coffee? Cool right? Someone's in love with Alf!

San's large latte, $3.30

We ordered a Pumpkin Salad ($13.00) to share.

Pumpkin among the greens!

Heart this salad!

Gotta say it was a huge hit with all of us. The salad was really nicely put together with pumpkin, an array of greens, walnuts and feta cheese. The pumpkin was gorgeous - sweet and tender and pumpkin-y to the bite. It went really well with the green veggies and the slightly bitter quality of the walnuts. Also the cheese was tops. If not I will be sad face because I really truly do love cheese like the Real and Self-Respecting Mouse I am.

Sis had the Braised Lamb ($19.000).

Lamby-kins thingie.

It was cooked with root vegetables and Sis especially liked the radish-like thing. She thought it was good, and it was cooked to the right tenderness. It was also pleasing to her that there was enough gravy to soak everything in. Sis is big on gravy, she is. At times.

Both me and San had the Morrocan Lamb Foccacia ($9.00). I want to say here that I ordered it FIRST and San was a copy-sun. Yeah.

Lamb sandwich ahoy.

I think I am thoroughly satisfied with it. The bread was really crusty and soft on the inside, and the mint yoghurt went well with the lamb. Loads of veggies (spinach leaves) as well to balance out the meat. The lamb is just a little dry in my opinion, but nothing too bad. San thought the lamb was good but there was too little of it in the foccacia. Fortunately, Sis got rid of some lamb fats and tenders and San topped up her sandwich with those and satisfaction immediately increased by 50%, haha. And I quote her, "Thank you MM for the fatty lamb!". And again, NO, she is not fat, the woman is stick-thin (life is so unfair, I know).

Alf had the Grilled Chicken Burger ($15.00).

Chicken and Chips.

It was an enormous portion and Alf didn't finish the chips. He was generally satisfied with his burger, found the chicken to be grilled to his liking and quite fragrant and flavourful but he was wrinkling his nose at the price. A little too expensive, he reckoned.

Anyway, fringe is a quite a funky sort of cafe, I think. Menu was pretty extensive - bread/foccacias, greek tapas, western-styled mains and pastas, plus bevy of salads. I think price is quite reasonable on the whole although a few items here and there are a bit pricey. Generally a good dining experience but the sun beating down on our backs and blinding poor Alf took away some of the fun. :( And it was RAINING today. Crazy Melbourne weather.

Domino's (delivered)

At last me n MM had our pizzas!

Both of us have been wanting to eat pizza since June... but not until last Sunday that we got ourselves pizzas from Domino's *happy* Why wait til now? We've tried to order pizza online (due to sudden cravings for pizza) for supper at around 11pm something during one of the days last month, but, to our surprise, all of the pizza deliveries (Pizza Hut & Domino's) were closed at that time. I always thought that we can order pizza 24/7, or at least until midnite, from PZ & D. Apparently it is not. Up until now, I'm still not sure what time do PZ & D stop taking orders from phone/online. I should have asked when I called up for pizza delivered last Sunday! Nevermind...

Failing to order pizza that nite had made us crave for it more =D So, Me and MM decided to go Mark's Place (near Melb. Uni.) to have pizza for lunch the following week. Guess wat?? Mark's Place was closed that day for lunch!! Sigh.. our pizza's mission failed aggggainnn... fated i guess. Hahaha. * nothing else to be blamed =D *

Time flies.... and on last Sunday, my crave for pizza came back and I just NEED it. LOL. Since MM was having the craving as well, we ordered them with buy-1-free-1 voucher. I ordered the pizzas at around 7pm *as soon as I realised I want pizza. LOL* as I did not know when they will stop taking order online. I'm sure not as early as 7pm but earlier is better, I thought. I'm determined to eat them yea? hahaha.

Buy 1 Free 1 (large pizza), $17.95

Chicken Monaco with Domino's Classic Crust

Meatball Monster Pizza with Domino's Thin'n'Crispy

I prefer the thin crust pizza

After devouring them * while watching some Korean series*, I can feel the satisfaction within myself =) We couldn't finish the 2 pizzas, btw, and have left half of each for next day's lunch. Happy.
